Project Details:
For each of the above topics, a group will create a WIKI, comprised of factual research on multiple pages. Each WIKI will include the following pages:
HOME Page: The home page will include the name of the topic that has been assigned to your group, including a detailed introduction paragraph of what your topic is, including a definition and generic examples of your type of crime. Your home page should "hook" your audience or readers and motivate them to read on. You could include statistics, graphs, charts, pictures, video, etc. Remember, this is the very first thing that your audeince will see.
FAMOUS EXAMPLES Page: This page will provide some of the more prominent examples of your type of crime, with pictures of the people involved and/or the event(s), with a brief paragraph (3-5 sentences) explaining what happened. Each case should show whether the crime was mala in se or mala prohibitum, as well as what the mens rea, actus reus, and corpus delicti are for each case/criminal. (Disregard the text with STRIKETHROUGH)
RSS FEEDS & ARTICLES Page: This page will include an RSS Feed of 7-10 articles pertaining to your topic, that are continually updating onto your WIKI. In addition to the RSS FEED, you will select three articles and summarize them into 2-3 paragraphs, detailing what happened, who was involved/effected, and what the sentence was for the criminals involved. Try to choose three different articles (i.e. VIOLENT CRIME - one article on Rape, one article on Murder, one article on Burglary, etc.).
CHARTS, GRAPHS, & STATS Page: This page should include statistical analysis of how many crimes are reported on an annual basis (and/or how often crimes occur), the crime data for the U.S vs. other countries, where these crimes are most likely to occur (urban vs. rural, college campuses, domestic or professional cases, etc.), perhaps the number of reported crimes vs. unreported crimes. You can use bulleted format to outline this page, but some charts and/or graphs with quick captions explaining the data should accompany this.
VIDEO Page: The embedded video can be very broad. It can pertain to the crime itself, famous cases, biographies of a famous criminal who is infamous for a crime in your category, etc. Just make sure that it ties into your topic and is appropriate.
LINKS Page: Create a page specifically for links where your information can be found. This might include websites and/or articles, or perhaps editorial journals where you found your information. Each WIKI should include 5 or more LINKS.
